Natural Products We Trust to Get Our Family Through Winter

  • 4 min read

Winter with little ones can feel like a blur of snot, sleepless nights, and endless coughing. And as a mum of two and the owner of Morning Mummy, I know that when one child gets sick, it doesn’t take long for the rest of the house to follow. That’s why I’ve created the Winter Wellness Pack - using the same trusted natural remedies I reach for when the first sneeze (or cough) hits.

These are the exact products I keep in our cupboard not only in winter, but year round (hellow kindy bugs). Gentle, effective, and natural, they’ve helped me support my kids through winter bugs on many occasions - best of all they can be used for the whole family!

🌿 Weleda Cold & Flu Pilules

These tiny homeopathic pills are always my first defence when I feel a cold coming on for me or the kids. They're gentle, suitable for all ages (bonus). I love that they’re easy to give (my kids think they’re magic pills), and in my experience have drastically shortened the length and severity of colds/flus in our household.

🌿 Weleda Echinacea Thuja Comp

This remedy supports the immune system, especially during those seasons when it feels like the bugs just won’t stop coming. It’s safe for children over 2 and helps build resistance during those high-exposure weeks at kindy or school. I usually pop it in some water or juice daily when something’s going around, and several times a week, year round, to support their little immune systems.

🌿 Weleda Soothing Chest Rub

This one’s a bedtime essential in our house when the blocked nose and cough hit. It’s like a warm hug in a tube; with thyme and eucalyptus that gently ease breathing without overwhelming their senses (or mine). We rub it onto little chests and backs after warm baths, and it helps to clear their nose and sooth a cough so we can all get a better nights sleep.

🌿 Weleda Herb & Honey Chest Relief Syrup

This sweet herbal syrup has helped settle coughs for both my kids, especially those lingering, dry ones that seem to hit hardest at night. It tastes delicious (even my picky one doesn’t complain), and I feel confident giving it to them knowing it’s made with natural ingredients, not chemicals. Suitable for ages 2+ - If you find your little one doesnt like the taste, sumply mis it with water or juice.

🍭 Key sun Kids Cough Lollipops

Part remedy, part peace offering. These homeopathic lollipops help soothe a scratchy throat and distract from the discomfort. I keep a stash in my bag for those times we’re out and about but need something quick. Plus, they're such an easy win when you’re dealing with sick-day grumpiness.
Bonus - you'll also find the Anti-nausea lollypops in our kids nausea range - they work a treat!

🧣 Mini Wheat Pack

Sometimes what a sick child needs most is just warmth and closeness. A soft mini wheat bag gives them something to cuddle, or can be popped on their chest or tummy for that extra bit of soothing when they’re feeling fragile. We warm ours every night in winter, even when no one’s sick. Plus in summer, we keep it in a sealed bag in the freezer and it doubles as an icepack for all those bumps and bruises.

And something for you, Mama…

Every Winter Wellness Pack includes chamomile tea just for you. Because I know how it feels to care for everyone else and forget your own needs. This is my gentle reminder to slow down, breathe deep, and let yourself be looked after too.

💛 Why I Created the Winter Wellness Packs

I started Morning Mummy to support parents through pregnancy and early parenthood, and this winter, I knew I wanted to go one step further.

These are the products I truly trust, use, and reorder every year. The Winter Wellness Packs are my way of sharing what works; not as a health professional, but as a mum who’s been there.

If you’re looking to prepare ahead, or send a meaningful gift to a mum in the thick of it, these packs are full of care and calm.

Pre-orders are open now
Choose between the Base Pack for essential support, or the Deluxe Pack for full symptom care and cosy extras like a wheat pack.

Bonus remedy we love:

Another natural remedy I keep on hand, especially with young kids, is the Weleda Nausyn Drops. While they’re technically for nausea and vomiting, I’ve found them incredibly helpful during tummy bugs that tend to hit right alongside colds and flus. Gentle, homeopathic, and suitable for children, they’ve saved us from more than one middle-of-the-night mess!

I know what you’re thinking — these are mostly Weleda products!

And you’re right. When it comes to natural remedies for my kids, I stick to what I know and trust. No, Morning Mummy (or myself personally) are not an 'affiliate' for Weleda - I just genuinely like their products. Weleda’s formulations are gentle, homeopathic, and have been around for generations. I love that they support the body’s natural healing process without harsh ingredients, and honestly, they’ve earned their permanent spot in our family remedy kit.
But if your looking for more great products, we also love the Harker Herbals range.

As always, read the label. Use only as directed. If symptoms persist or worsen, talk to your health professional.
